880PRS Mid Problems - Please Help Soon

So I just got my 880prs in the mail today and I hooked it up and everything. I have it in NW mode and I set the Sub, Mid and High frequencies to where they should be. The problem is I can only get the sub and the tweeters to work, I just get slight static that doesn't seem to have any pattern out of the mids. Please help, I have no idea what could be going on and I'll be hitting the road for 5 hours tomorrow so I need my music //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif.

Mine just did this to me as well. Pioneer has alot of problems with this deck. Ive sent mine back twice. I bought it refurbed and it had alt whine, so I sent it back, it came back without the rear rca working. I *****ed to the company and there sending me a brand new 880. I havent recieved it yet so I cant say it will be, but im hoping. One more problem and Im done with pioneer, back to alpine for me.

Ughh, this wouldn't be quite as ****ty if my other HU hadn't died unexpectedly last night //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif.

You should have bought a brand new one instead of a refurb, although the pre-out issue is definately a boneheaded POS move by pioneer in not fixing it, at some point it's got to be fixed, BUT then again people still buy it....

i received mine on tuesday. bought from ugotadeal on ebay, so far so good. at first i had alt whine, thought that it was the hu, but it was a bad rca that i replaced and now all the whine is gone. good luck in getting your hu fixed.

So doing the ground loop fix or anything like that wouldn't fix this? It's almost certainly defective then? God ****, it seems like every single piece of car audio equipment I buy is defective. This industry has really gone straight down the shitter, even the stuff that's supposed to be the best is just as likely to be defective as the POS stuff.

On a better note, the sub is WAYYYYY more accurate than with the Kenwood and the tweeters sound much crisper and fuller than with the Kenwood.

Well, I decided to try switching the mids and the highs on the HU (speakers have crossovers still so no harm done) just to make sure it wasn't the amp or something that was causing the problem. After doing this everything worked fine, except for the fact that the tweets couldn't get very high and the mids couldn't get very low due to the crossover. So I thought well what the hell I'll try it back the other way and what do ya know, everything works. I am seriously perplexed by this whole situation, I don't know if I should still send it in to get it replaced or what. Any input anyone?

Im thinking its pioneers retarted rca pigtails. The way they plug into the back of the deck with a little plastic plug. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

Ya, what's with that anyways? Well, I noticed when I tried to do the auto eq I didn't have my car on and the mids were all distorted but when I turn it on they aren't, but I do think they're quieter then they should be so I guess it's not really fixed.

Trust me, the auto eq sucks. Set everything flat. Shut all the crap off. Adjust your amps so that it sounds the best. Listen to it for awhile, youll end up liking it set to flat, or **** close to it. The sq of the 880 is nice, much better than my alpine 9856. Im still waiting on my pos 880 to come in.

Well, that wasn't really the point of the post, lol. I know how to set the EQ I was just going to see what I got and then go from there. How well does it work for the time alignment? Alot of people say the EQ part sucks but never say anything about the auto time alignment.

Hold up a second please. So the EQ on the 880 sux? I am not flaming anyone I am asking. I thought the EQ features represented the stongest part of the 880. Or are you guys just talking about the Auto EQ?

I am kinda perplexed by this HU. I had about decided that it was a HU that, when working properly, was **** good -- but one that had some reliability issues. But if you guys are saying that the EQ features **** then I am begining to wonder if it is what it is cracked up to be.

I know of three HU's that have capability of crossovers for running front components active off the head unit.. The 880, the 7100 eclipse, the drz9255. I was leaning towards the 880... Something tells me that may not be a great idea, though I do hear a lot of great things about the SQ of the 880.. The harness pigtail for the rca's does look pretty cheap.

I might just have to save up for the 9255 and not question the decision again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif However, no USB or iPod capability that I know of with that unit.. Would be nice to eliminate the CD's in the car for decent resolution from an iPod or USB drive.

Or just go passive with the components, broadening the choices for the head units.. Maybe a 980BT or other.
