8" SQ suggestions?

im looking for an 8" woofer to put in my 04 Z06. im getting a little older and am wanting to go for sq this time around. budget is $500 and will be powered by a pdx 1000 (already in the car). i was thinking a dd 1508 but know if that is a sq geared woofer. thanks in advance.

Most wouldn't suggest 1508 for a SQ oriented install. However there are few other 8" subs that could handle 1000 watts like the DD.

a jl 8w7 doesnt even take 1000 watts, i doubt many other 8s are going to do it.

diff amp, or maybe a 10, or 2 8s?

I think it would be easier if you just went with one IDmax 10 then you wouldn't have to worry about power issues

Sell the amp, take the money, buy a different amp and sub such as the RL-i8, ID8D2V3, Arc Audio 8, Dayton 8HF, etc. and pair an amp with that at 2 or 4 ohms.

its funny how DD beat out JL and all others 8's tested in the big 8 test a couple of years....ago by a guy that was heavy in SQ...on the IASCA circuit...I'm sure a search on this forum or DD's forum would find the results...I can't remember how many different 8's were tested but I'm thinking between 6 and 8 maybe more its been a while...the test was done with a 1008a because it was right before the 1508's came out.....

selling the amp is not an option. from what ive been reading either a dd 1508 or a SA-8 are where im leaning.

Im aware of this. Its the exact same thing as an ID8D2V3 except cheaper.

sa-8s sound wonderful if you not be wangin on them with 3x rated power. I love them on about 300rms a piece in two cubes for the pair. got them at like 35 hz and they get a good even frequency response.

Check out those Tru Bass 8" subs, they seem like they could fit your needs

x2 on the TruBass 8, i had a pair for a while installed in .8 cubes each tuned to 32 hz and they sound better than any other 8's i've heard (AQ 8, 1508, RF HE2 & HX2) and got just as loud as the AQ 8 I had installed for a while.
