8" mid and 8" sub

Okay, people always say not to mix sub sizes because of cancellation issues and whatnot..... well lately I've seen a few "8" mids" and heard people talk about them. um.... say you have a couple 10's or 12's, why can you have 8" mids and not 8" subs? lol.

A sub plays sub level frequencies, Mid plays mid bass frequencies.

You putting a sub and a mid together in the trunk or something? Whats going on?

you can turn any driver into a mid driver or sub driver. it's just the difference of frequencies.

not saying it'd work out for the best, each is designed for it's specific purposes.

but a sub can play the same frequencies (not necessarily as good) as a mid. idk, was just curious what the difference really was. But no, I was just curious about it. I am happy with my components and subs.... it would be hell to redo all of it anyways lol. Like i said, just came to mind and i was pondering and got myself curious.

I think he means that you can use sub woofers as midbass drivers (note not midWOOFER, dedicated midbass) with decent results...
Personally I am running eclipse 8 inch subs as midbass drivers up to 150-200hz, only because their specs leaned more towards midbass (High QTS, 40hz FS)...

The key is to have the speakers playing different frequencies to avoid the cancellation issues you are speaking about.

Most times I wouldn't recommend 8" mids and 8" subs anyway.

I have 4 - 12inch subs with 2 - 10inch midbass drivers made by selenium.

The midbass is amazing.

I love it.

I can turn off the subs and still jam out.

People around here actually think that is my bass. HAHA
