two tens sealed... i'm swapping from 4 8s ported to 2 10s sealed.
when you calculate cone area you kind of need to take in account the surround... so an 8" sub really is like a 6" sub without the surround... a 10" is like an 8" without the surround... etc etc.

Good point, although irrelevant. That's the same for all speakers. Half of the surround width is considered part of the cone, so an 8" speaker with a 1" surround has a cone diameter of 7". if it has a 1" surround how would it be 7" in diameter as the surround is on both sides of the sub? and with pi*r^2 the radius does come into effect it's an exponential function..

SA-10s aren't a sealed driver, and I doubt the Level 3's are either.

rd classic 10 V2s sealed would be sweet or sonance 10s... not quite sure how the sundowns would sound in a sealed box... but the new RD classic 10s have a fs of 28 and an xmax of 22mm 6.5" motor diameter with a 5.5" mounting depth... i am currently torn between these and 2 DC LVL 2 10s.. i might just get both pairs...

my 4 e8s in a super small 1.85 ported box before ANY displacement play music at 136 db.. it only burped a 139.XX //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif off a sundown 1000d in a double cab tacoma.... hopefully my scores will be a little better with 2 10s in a proper box.

well then test it at the headrest where he will be.. I am sure the dead bodies in the back on the floor will like the 144 there but he won't hear that.. plus you did 144 on a burp so unless he jams out to 54hz tones then its a no go..
