i am new to car audio and i have just recently bought a 12" jl w1v2 sub that is 8 ohms. i have never heard of an 8 ohm sub before and am concerned with what the sub will sound like. It is an SVC and i also need to no what would be the best way to wire this sub. Any help will be apperciated.

I don't know that much about car audio but I do know that since it's a single voice coil there is only one way to wire it..... Just match the negatives and the positives. Why didn't you buy the 4ohm one?

No real problem with running a single 8 ohm sub. You are just gonna need to buy an amp thats bigger than you really need to compensate for the high ohm load. If you are trying to get close to that 150-175 watts rms your cheapest and best route I think is to find a two channel that does 300 to 400 watts rms at 4 ohms bridged. With the 8 ohm sub you would be right in the ballpark of the rms rating of your sub.
