8 ohm output from regulated amps?

If you're worried about not having enough power with 8 ohm drivers, don't be.

Another advantage of bi-amping, you can bridge the midbass amp down to 2 channels //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't think you'll find even a regulated amp such as the JL slash series that will still give full power at 8 ohms.... by design those type of amps deliver their rated power into 4-1 ohms.... 8 is higher than they're designed for, the PS may not be able to compensate that much......

but considering the regulation built into the amp they could tho.... wonder if anyone has ever clamped one at an 8 ohm load just to see???

Alton is correct, that they are designed to work at "normal ohm loads" and JimJ is correct about not worrying.

You'll still get most of their power at 8 ohms. If you look at bench tests for regulated amps, they do slightly more power at 1 ohm than 4 ohms. Even JL regulation circuitry isn't perfect... but if you extrapolate the behavior, I'd expect you get around 80% of power at 8 ohms (just a guess).

I'll try to find some amps tonight that fit.

I think Alto Mobile makes some class D amplifiers that make the same power at 4, 8, and even 16ohm but I'm not sure if they have a model with the power rating you're after.
