8 8inch RE's vs. 1 18inch XXX

Which set up should i go with?? 8 8inch RE's or 1 18inch XXX? Which would be louder ans have better SQ?

the 8s would have nearly 60% more surface area compared to the 18

Id still take the single 18

the 8's may have more surface area, but they have no where near the displacement of the 18.

60%more surface area but about 1/3 of the linear excursion.

How much rms should i give the XXX? and what size box and what should i tune it to? I like to listen to rap and hard rock. Now this will be a BIG upgrade from 2 S12L7's getting 750rms each right?

the 8s will be louder....even if they were sealed

but the XXX will go lower

So the 8 8inches would be the loudest the XXX would be second loudest and the L7's would come in third? Everyone agree?

I think the XXX would be the loudest, just cuz the 8 8s have more Sd doesnt mean it will be louder...the XXX is gonna move more air than the 8 8s and 2 L7 12s
