so basically the 880 is slightly more configuarble.... it doesn't have better SQ.. lol..im pretty sure 99.9999999% of people here wont ever use 16 band l/r... for the vast majority 16 band total is enough..
Have you listened to them both?? Just curious how you are so sure the 880 doesn't sound any better than the 780.

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=172686&page=2Here you say the 880 is better than the 980...have you heard both?

Im just as sure as 99% of the people who blindly say the 880 has better SQ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
You have a point. I did say that but what I meant by that was that the 880 allows for a fully active setup as the 780 and 980 do NOT. If someone is using the 780, 880 or the 980 in only 2 channel mode you would still hear a difference if someone was using the dual L&R 16 band over the single 16 band that comes with the 780 and 980. Lets face it, the 780 is for those who want a nice deck for a lower price. 880 has the MOST potential out of those 3. And the 980 offers Bluetooth. A 980 is a 780 with bluetooth capability. Pure and simple. Take that how you want, the 880 is the superior deck in Pioneer's '06 line.

You might think the set of features is superior but i don't..i dont really see how adjusting the left side differently than the right side has any real benefit. To me it still boils down to color screen Vs ability to run active. If you include the 980 its color screen & bluetooth VS ability to run active.

When i bought my 780 they were the same price as an 880.. and the 980 wasn't available yet...I should have waited for the 980 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I play with all 3 decks almost everyday, and without a doubt the 880 is my fav. More functions than the 780, and I dnt really have a need for the blue tooth that the 980 offers. I could care less about the flashy color screens, the 880 is pure class. All 3 cdplayers are very good though. Pioneer stepped it up this year forsure.

Then you've never had a system tuned the right way then. I'm glad you like your 780 but knocking down the 880 will not bring your 780 up any higher.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Sure the independent left and right EQs may not appeal to all but they do appeal to some.

okay... so everyone, calm down... pioneer's 06 hu's are BOMB... and it doesn't really matter if you have the 780 or the 880, they both are great...

jeez capeez.... well i'll post pix of the installment wen i get it installed.. probably a week or 2 from today =]

your so much better than me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
I didn't mean anything hostile by my statement. I was just trying to emphasize that most hard core SQ vehicles use independent L & R equalization. Like back when the AudioControl EQTs were huge. It was nothing see a competitor running 2 of those mono EQs.

I chose the 880 for personal reasons that don't really matter to anyone but me.

I will say this. I'm 37, loved car and home audio for 20 years, and Pioneer has always been able to prove a definate upgrade between models whether you can find it in the spec sheet or not. Even their home receivers will use better components in the higher end models even though some of the features are the same throughout the line.

That being said, none of it matters if you're playing MP3's and driving 60MPH.

With all that noise (and it's there even if you have 20 layers of dynamat) and the MP3 compression you won't be able to tell the difference between the 780, the 880, or a Jensen from Walmart.
