Or does this sub crave for 1,000 watts and more?

Contemplating between a ZX750.1 and the ZX1000.1. If it were up to me, I'd readily go for the 1000.1 but, I'm concerned about efficiency and power on my alternator in my boat.

Is that why you're only running 600 to yours?
He is not using an IDMAX, He is using an IDQ. But 750w should be just fine. You MIGHT see a 1db increse from the extra 250w in the real world. Maybe. I highly doubt you could tell the difference most of the time.

750 = sweet spot.

1000 = headroom.

i would go with the 1kw amp and turn it down a few notches so that amp is not running as hard and your THD will be better, but thats just me.

I went from a 1200 old school Lanzar amp..........when they were built tough, besides the optima line to an Autotek 750.1. Lanzar was supposed to do 1000rms, but it was a hog! I maybe if I was lucky got 800rms out of it due to my electrical and I had the big 3 done with a kinetik 600 in it. My lights used to dim like a bish with the Lanzar. Now with the Autotek, I get no dimming and even louder than before.

So if you get the 1000rms amp, then keep the gains down, even though I did the same with my Lanzar and still was a power hog.

Personally me, I say get the 750rms amp as the IDmax will do perfect on that. You might have to be careful with the gains on even 1000rms as the Max don't like anything over it, which it won't, I just wouldn't push it that close to rms. That is just what I would do though. I sure you would be ok, but also taking price account into it.

Good luck and I always write way to much, lol!
