'75 Cadillac Setup

Hello everyone!

I have read tons of threads here... guess the best thing about this forum is the size.

G'daaamn!

Could you please provide input, feedback, comments and changes to the system I am planning for my new car?

For reference, the car is a 1975 Cadillac DeVille Sedan (four doors).

My purpose: KickAss sound system (no competition, no need to blast the hair out of other cars in traffic jams).

Budget: $2,500ish ... although we all know how that just keeps on going up.

Rough draft of components:

0 - single-space HU with USB (don't want one of the flip-out HU)

1 - voice speakers::

two in the dash (small ones... not sure what size)

two in front doors (will buy/make the speaker "pods" as the car has no speakers on the doors at the moment)

two in rear doors (also getting the "pods")

two in rear deck

2 - one 10" sub

ELECTRICAL:

The original 1975 alternator is 80Amps.

Need to change that guy, right?

What do you suggest?

Will run a cable (size?) from the front battery to a 2nd battery at the rear (Optima?) at the trunk.

That's pretty much it.

I like the Rockford T600-4 amp... yet I have no idea.

I'm not "in" the scene... so I might be talking crap. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Suggestions?

I would like to system to have high-quality sound.

I think the only thing that "depends" is the dashboard speakers... as I need to find out what size they are.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

What exactly does 'kickass' mean to you.
Great sound quality.

No competitions for the system.

Thanks for the reply //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

When I seen 75 Cadillac the first thing that came to my mind was sound deadening being that it's an older vehicle and will probably have some crazy rattle.

Thanks Chrispy!

Hadn't thought of that!!

Any suggestions as to brand of sound deadening materials?

I know Dynamat is big... you guys have something better suited?

Thanks for the feedback!

lol.

someone is kissing some ass.

look into fi q's maybe if you want a good sq setup, with a beast front stage, with a 30 band eq, and mad tweeters. That way you should almost get away with stock electrical.

I wasn't sure if it was a good idea/suggested to get an EQ.

"Fi Q" are the subwoofers?

I just googled it, yet I am coming up with forums and people asking questions.

When you say "Front Stage"... that's... ?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Regarding the electrical, I'm finicky with that, and I won't be touching the vehicle's ground for nothing.

From the front battery, cables (+ and -) run to the 2nd battery at the trunk.

Then another set of +&- cables go again towards the front for power to the head unit.

I think a car's chassis is "dirty" as heck for an electrical connection destined for audio.

Just my 0.02 in that regard //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks DbzArson

yess, FI Q's are moofers,

link is .. https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=154b04bfc6664fd/shopdata/0050_Speakers/0030_Q/product_overview.shopscript

go whatever size you want.

and front stage as in speakers and amp and such.

like maybe if you want to dish out the money, get a good set of components,

and a good amp and all.

invest in a decent hu, maybe if you want to go sq for cheaper, look at the

eclipse 5030.

also, as someone stated before, Sound deaden the Sh!t out of you car,

you'll be very pleased you did, and your besst bet is to get the bulk pack of dynamaat, or even if you just want to get by, your local hardware store like lowes or home depot has material for it.

And as always reccomended, get the big 3 done.

Thanks!

I am still trying to figure out what the "Big 3" are.

Alternator... cables... smelly tree?

Checking out the Eclipse head units now...

Although I rather spend the $$ upfront for a very good HU.

Much thanks bud!

Here is what I suggest you do scrap that idea of dash speakers use some of your budget and build door pods throw a nice three way in there. Then spend some more to upgrade your electrical and deaded that bad boy up.
