I've spent 6 hours on my car so far.

-About 30 minutes to solder the wiring harnesses.

-3 hours putting the HU in my car (I had two stubborn screws that needed Apex tips and a lot of torque //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif )

-1 hour snaking my A/V cables through the car

one under seat = not too bad

one in trunk, kind of a PITA

-2 hours installing first amp under seat

grounded it

screwed it down

connect speaker wires

routed speaker wires to doors

-30 minutes connecting subwoofer to box and amp to box and amp to sub

And I still need to:

-Run power wire from battery though firewall (biggest nightmare)

-Solder 4ga wire to distro block while INSIDE my car (bought a 0/1 to 4ga distro so I gotta solder the 4ga to the 0/1 screw to get it to stay)

-Run power wire to both amps

-Sound deaden my trunk and possibly doors

-Get gains set right

-Put sub in trunk and bolt it down

-Drill holes in the doors for tweeters and get the midranges in too.

I dind't realize it would be this time consuming! It's not that difficulut, just tiring. Although I am having fun learning //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Everyone else I know goes to circuit city to buy Kenwood HU's, Sony Xplod subs, and Blaupunkt speakrs and gets them put in there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Hopefully its all worth it in the end. Pics?
I'll take some pics when I'm done. The wiring isn't all that fun, but it is real clean so far //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Maybe it will look stock //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Dude, you aren't having it bad at all if you've only spent 7 hours on your car.

I've spent more time than that just sound deadening my car......and I'm not even half done with it.

ya...im a DIY kinda guy too and for things like tha it also takes me hours....but thats good when u take ur time to do it right the way it needs to be done. definitly get some pics in....

Look at it this way; now you KNOW how your stuff is hooked up. Any problem you know where to look, and you can now help other members with similar vehicles. I did my install in steps mainly because I didn’t have everything all at once.

H/U install

30 minutes to crimp the wiring harness

1 ½ hours to remove the dash and install it.

Amp install wiring

2 ½ hours to run the wiring (power, remote turn on, RCA’s), took my time because I didn’t want to break anything.

Amp & sub install

30 minutes to put the sub in the box

30 minutes hookup the amp and connect the sub.

Total is about 5 ½ hours. I can see adding another 3-4 hours if I were running my door speakers off another amp.

Yea, I know i'd rather do my own work. Some place did an install for a buddy of mine and wired his DVC 4ohm subs in series, yield a total SIXTEEN (that's 16!) ohms. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

But his is probably done very nicely. Is yours clean? Plus, it is his first time.
most of it is making the most out of my wiring (don't want to run out in the wrong places and have to crimp or solder in an awkward postion. the other is figuring out hte best places to put stuff, best amp position, best route for wires, etc.

x2 better he take his time, than do it quick and break something. Then he gets to spend time fixing that and paying for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. You do have much more work ahead than what you have done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif . So get to work.
