6x9 or 6.5?

I think im gonna try and replace them with some kind of component set. Ive replaced the factory ones with some kickers a few months back and want something a little better. My dash has a spot of some 3.5 and i might try to mount some tweeters there.
i'd doo as beefy 6x9 as u can and use 3.5 coax in dash like los said set them on a very high pass xover though..

6x9s are good for mid bass and that's it. Not a 2 way component or coax. If you can fit a smaller coax somewhere else, like a 3.5 they will do well. But you have to have a way to low pass them under 400hz.
Yes, there is room in my dash some 3.5

the 6x9s will offer more midbass from the cone area alone, but youre gonna find far better engineered 6.5s as theyre a more common speaker size. You lookin for coaxes or components? I dont remember if your car has stock tweets
Im not really sure if i should ve looking at coaxes or components, honestly. My car has spot on the dash for 3.5

The dash speakers do not have to be small tweeters, as mentioned above. 6x9 components with a bit larger speaker for mids and treble are what I recommended to you. The reason for this is the typical 1" speaker will not play low enough to fill a "gap" between the top end of a 6x9 speaker and the low end of a 1" tweeter.

It's not that a 6x9 woofer cannot play high frequencies, but for great sound in a car using factory speaker locations(exactly as you plan to do) we need to use physics to our advantage. Chrysler had good intentions but the typical budget constraints that car engineers are forced into usually results in a disappointing sound system.
