6x9 midbass foe teh truck.... what do you suggest?

You can probably get some Alpines Type S for that price. I don't know what you mean by sound better but remember that the 6x9 will need more power than the 4x6 so you might just want to invest in a 2 channel amp for the ones you already have?

i hear those CDT 6x9's are pretty nice...but there around the $150 range...my sister has some alpine 6x9's that she got at best buy last year and they sound real nice off of a small alpine amp, they were just about $100 i believe...

If they are top mounted in the doors I have a vintage pair of Cerwin Vega CS-18A's which are an old school cast frame 6x9 with a resetable horn tweeter integrated into the metal grill. I will sell them cheap. They have pleated cloth surrounds that will never wear out and 6lb magnets, these are huge. I can get some photo's looking for like $40 plus shipping. One speaker has some oxidation on the cast aluminum frame but it does not affect performance in any way.

- Unbelievable. I used to sell those along with Alpine way back in 1985! Please post a pic and take me back in time. They have a red reset button on the front of the integrated grill. A 6X9 with a circuit breaker. Cerwin just tranfered rights to to thier car division to Diamond Audio.

Do you remember Kricket (or Cricket?) coax speakers with the horn tweets and green surrounds? I think JL woofers of the time period also had the green surrounds.

Yep those are the ones, built like tanks and sound incredible nothing like the crap CV peddles these days. All cast aluminum and metal, no plastic.

Yes I remember the AFS Kriket's as well, the coaxial and triaxials sounded very nice and they used a dome for the midrange which was easily superior to the Jensen Triax II's at the time which were actually a good speaker back then. There was also the JBL T545's those were beefy as well.

Old, I remember the Pioneer KEX series and Alpine's first component cassette deck the 7307, the original Fosgate PR-2100. Prior to that it was Pioneer 8-tracks with the Clarion 100-EQB equalizer and the original Jensen triaxials. I've been at it awhile. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for the pics.... I do remember 8-track. I also remember Fosgate punch 45, 75, 150. And the hot component system at one time was Fosgate 3-way for the Freeway... 4X6 plates with 8" woofers and crossovers. Concord was the hot head unit back in the early 80's. Other hot amps were the plate amps... Audio Mobile or ADS, I forget which.

Hey man, if your looking for some good sound and a good price, check out Rockford Fosgates Power Series 6x9s. Pretty cheap on Ebay.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The Rockford Fosgates Power Series 6x9s do sound good and have some nice authority in the mid-bass region. You need an amp on them to get the full potential out of them though.IMO
