ok im planing on getting two 6x9 door speakers for my truck. i am going to power them with a 600 watt 4 channel sony amp. it is 60watts rms per channel and 110w max per channel.

im looking to get the best speaker for the price around $50 if possible. the main thing is i dont want the sound to be distorted when i have the bass turned up.

i have been looking on sonicelectronix.com becuase i have heard great things about them.

my question is should i get a lower rms (40 to 150) better brand name such as: rockford, kenwood, pioneer, soundstream, jvc, kicker or fli. or a higher rms (100 to 200) cheaper brand such as: boss, hiltron, sound storm, jensen, dual, visonik, or sony.

the main thing is i want to be able to hook these up to my amp and not get a sound distorsion like a poping noice that sounds like crap when i have a lot of bass to them, and i would like to spend around 50 bucks if possible. i would spend more if i have to.

if you guys could recomend some of this page it would be great: 6" x 9" Speakers | Car Speakers | Car Audio | Car Audio, Video & GPS at Sonic Electronix

thanks;)

On such a tight budget, i would recomend getting some PG rsd 6.5" component speakers. They come with crossovers which should help a bit with the distortion. A cheap mdf baffle can be made to fit the 6.5s in the 6x9 spot pretty easily. They may be able to handle your 4 ch bridged if you have any idea what you are doing with tuning.

distortion will be abundant in your amp. no speaker choice will affect or improve that. speakers reproduce what is given to them - give them distortion and they play distortion.

keep the gains low on the amp. don't try to get a lot of bass out of $50 speakers. Keep the bass settings flat or +2 at the most. If you want more bass - add a sub or open your wallet to much better speakers and a better amp. you gotta pay to play my friend.

before you buy speakers you'll need to verify what you have for available depth. without knowing the exact vehicle - year/make/model/trim we can't suggest anything and know it will fit.

ok well its a 1999 dodge 2500 ram pickup and i dont think i will have to worry about the depth though. but those one speakers listed above are round speakers i need 6x9 speakers to fit.

any help?

note that just because you have a factory 6x9 does not mean that an aftermarket 6x9 will just bolt up. you'll need/want to make a baffle to mount the new speakers, be it round or oval.

This is my vote on the page you listed:

Eclipse SP6900 - 6" x 9" Speakers - Sonic Electronix

But i don't think you'll be all that happy with tweeters in your lower door. you really want to get the tweeters up on the apillars to raise your sound stage.

Boss's company policy seems to be to deceive the consumer. I've even tried contacting them before about their unrealistic ratings, and they basically declined comment. Don't give them your business no matter how "great of a deal" they seem. Any of those brands that you listed as "higher power" -- I wouldn't buy any of them if you are going to be amping IMO durability wise.

If you want to limit distortion, lower frequencies are most often the culprit. Buy a pair 150Hz bass blockers; those should do the trick, and at 6db per octave they should leave you with slightly more bass than high-pass-filtering from your amp. You can find em for about $10.

my vote: Rockford Fosgate P1692, Phoenix Gold RSd, or the Sony XS-GTX6930 would fare well too.

i think 4-way 6x9's are stupid. you're just adding more distortion by placing more crappy drivers in there with overlapping playback (i.e. no low pass crossovers).

but go and listen to both and decide. without putting the tweeter up in the dash/apillar, it's going to sound bad either way.
