6x9 distortion

I have two fairly new alpine type S 6x9s in a 2008 Pontiac G5 with a stock head unit, they sound great and have for a while, recently i noticed static coming from the right speaker, it only seems to be on certain songs and frequencies though, it could be all the time but i only notice it at certain points. i still need to check my wiring , but is it possible the speaker is damaged or one of the tweeters is blown? its only getting 12-17 rms at tops, i can turn the radio all the way up and its not very loud, maybe 80-90db. also there is not typically distortion regardless of volume and when i turn the volume down there is no static

HU has never clipped, like i said it doesnt go super loud. it wouldnt distort on the stock speakers unless i turned up the eqs
