600@1 ohm and a bad trunk

i bet you those 8's can get louder than you think they can

but if you want new stuff, by all means, get new stuff... i do it all the time =]

well if money is an issue, i think it would be smarter to spend $20 like is aid at home depot on a sheet of MDF, desgin a box in winisd or have someone do it for you.. build it (takes a couple hours to cut, over night to dry) and if it doesnt work, you're out $20 but if you do like it.. then you saved how much?

i just changed these subs i got from a sealed to ported.. and i think it sounds alot better.. plus dont forget when you port it.. youll gain 3dbs or more over you're sealed... thats basically doubling the power...

like i also said, buy new stuff if its what you want.. im not trying to stop ya..... but ID makes some very solid woofers.. building a box for it shouldnt be hard, wont need to be big.. and you might like it...

hell compared to some of the ppl on here, my subs costs me like $60 each.. and im giving em each 400 watts.. and im more than happy... i dont understand why so many ppl need like 5k watts on 4 15's walled.... but to each their own

ohhhhhhh i cant believe i didnt notice this... maybe i should pay more attention when i read..

a single 10 will not be much louder... it could actually end up being less than your 8's (depending on driver)

I have a question for origonal poster -

what is it that you want to achieve.....

loud bass - that does not vibrate the interior pannels of your car ?

if so = why do you think a good trunk setup will stop the rattling

if you are already getting it from inside the cabbin of the car ???

my vette was the noiziest piece of crap I ever heard when I put a single 12" ported in it.

rattling from every single plastic piece in the whole darn car, I spent about a month

going from piece to piece, removing plastic trim - adding sound deadning to each piece - using double layer where plastic trim meets eachother ( the cause of alot of vibrating sound )

and using blue lock tite on metal to metal screws, and silicone on screws in to plastic for all trim pieces. - the end result is a car that plays low notes with out the annoying rattle sound. it takes a while - but its not hard to do. and its not realley expensive either.

it just takes time and a bit of trial and error to find where the vibrations are coming from and figuring ways to make it quiet. the end result will make you alot happier playing music in your car, I can garontee that. I listen to the whole spectrum of music in mine , from orchestrial - to all out bass tracks - and am verry satisfied.

the only reason I say this - is that I think you might have the wrong idea about why you wish to put your subs in the trunk....

the car will rattle if you have bass. there is no way around that.

only to find the problem and trial and error it till its not annoying anymore.

nothing in the car rattles except the panel the woofers are behind, they are literally 1/2" from the side panel behind the passenger seat....i think moving them to the trunk in a ported box will hopefully increase output (not sure because ive heard the gas tank is a ho) and decrease that rattle some.
