6" 6W0 JL Audio

I made a post yesterday saying that I was looking for an 8" sub for my Z3.

I have since found out that if I want to put in the stock location without doing any major cutting I will have to go with a 6".

Of course it will have to be able to have minimal unported space so I will be going with the 6" 6W0 JL Audio.

Any other suggestions for a 6" ?

Also here's my second question.

I have an old MTX Thunder 2160. It's brand new and if I can use it I will.

It rates at:

80 Watts @ RMS/CH into 4 ohms

160 Watts @ RMS/CH into 2 ohms

320 Watts @ RMS Bridged into 4 ohms

I will be running the low inputs off the deck into the amp.

Will this amp be too much for the little 75 Watt speaker?

And how should I run it? Bridged at 4 ohms?

Thanks in advance.

Hey I'm back and with good news //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/clap.gif.178cba2c538c68e720c727fcb024b19c.gif

I got the 6.5 JL installed and running good.

I think my amp has enough power to run the 2 fronts and 2 rears as well as the sub.

What do you guys think?

It is only a 2 channel amp so I am not sure how exactly I would wire up 4 speakers and a sub to it.

I have the lows (RCA's) running off the deck and can run the 4 coming off the deck into the amps built in crossover.

How should I hook this all up?

Can I do left and right and bridge the sub on top of those?

So I would have the lows (Rca's) running into the amp.

Then the highs coming off the deck into the high input on the amp.

Front Left and Rear Left on the left output.

Front Right and Rear Right on the right output

Sub bridged or on one channel?

Or should I forget it until I get a bigger amp? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Unless you use passive x-overs you wont be able to saftley run two pairs of speakers plus a sub on a 2-channel amp unless I'm forgetting something. You can run two pairs of speakers fine but, depending on how you wire them, you will lose either balance or fade controls.

Many amps won't like being run this way even with a passive crossover network. My suggestion would be to find a really small mono amp (100 watts) to run the sub. YOu should be able to pick one up pretty cheap and several companies make them. Use your current amp to run the fron speakers and run the rear speakers off the head unit. You will keep you balance an fade control and will have independant control of the sub level as well.

Additionally, you can only run one input to a stereo (two-channel) amp at a time. You can run low (also called line) level inputs or with some amps high level inputs. The high and low refer to the voltage level of the signal, not the frequency range of the signal. In your example above, connecting both low level inputs and high level inputs to the amp likely would have damaged either the HU , the amp or both.

Well thx for your help fellas.

I'm off to buy a new amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
