6 channel + 2 channel or 2 X 4 channel

Evening all
Proper newby here, just wondering a good.set up that's not going to require a mortgage...

I want to power 6 speakers + a sub. Would it.be better to get a 6 channel amp and "link" with a dedicated 2 channel for the sub oor get 2 4 channels run 4 speakers from one, 1 set of speakers and the sub from the other??
Again total F'ing newb so happy to take criticism...

Two 4 channels, bridge one of the 4 channels for midbass duty. Get a monoblock for the sub.
