Am looking for some really clear crisp sounding mids, mostly listen to alot of rap and rock. Been looking at some mb quart, rainbow, and boston acoustics. My dilemma is I havent heard any of these in person, anyone here own any of these and which are the best? Probably just buy some coaxials for the rear panel ones not real worried about them. Also anyone make kick panels or good door pods for a 92 prelude I can look at?

Honestly, it's going to come down to personal preference more than anything.

But, which specific lines were you looking at out of those brands?

Rainbow is very laid back sounding. At least the SLC line is. That also happens to be the most popular Rainbow series thanks to it's price point. The fault in this is if you get a lot of road noise it can seriously screw quality of sound over. This isn't really a fault in the speakers since road noise will do that to any comp set, but I think it affects the SLCs a little more.

Apart from that, I can't say anything negative about them. When I retire from this hobby, however many years down the road it is, I will buy a Rainbow SLC kickbass edition component set and use them indefinitely. They're that good.

Retire you never retire from this. to the OG what do you want to spend? What is your goal of your system. I would forgo the rears espcially in a prelude dont need them. I am a big supporter of Rainbow because i run them in my car. I have ran other high end brands aswell and I am really happy with the way my Rainbows sound. Now I am not running SLC's I am a bit higher on the line but I have run the Germaniums and all I can say is wow to me at that price point there is nothing that comes close. But depending on your budget you may also want to consider Morel, and Dyn Audio. I would not rule out CDT as much as it pains me to say it but for the money they are good speakers.

I liked the detail of the Rainbows but the mid was too warm for me. An almost airy sound to it which I like a little in my tweet but not my mids. Midbass was good for a midrange speaker. i prefer the sound of the HD from CDt or the EF CF or FG and the tweet i've always liked the drt-25/26. I wouldn't count out Dyna but thats probably over your budget. I do like the JL XR mid but the tweeter is a little off for me. I prefer the JL VR silk tweet with the XR midrange.
