500 Dollar system

I'm sure you could find someone on here to build a box for you. It'd probably be cheaper then the ones at Best Buy and it would also be a lot better.

Those Type R's that were mentioned earlier in the thread have dual 4 ohm voice coils. All subs have voice coils, some are single while others are dual and some come in quad coil configuration. Since the Type R's were dual 4 ohm, each individual sub can either be wired in parallel to 2 ohms each or in series to 8 ohms each. It depends on the amp you choose as to how you'll need to wire them. If you wire them at 2 ohms each, then you'll need a 1-ohm stable amp. If you wire them to 8 ohms each, then you'll need an amp that'll work at 4-ohms. It will probably be cheaper to find a 1-ohm stable amp to power them then to try to find a 4-ohm amp that will produce the same amount of power.

THANX... cleared things up for me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif So is the Hifonics Brutus BX1000D AMP good and stable at 1ohm? AND who here builds boxes? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

1 x 1000 Watts @ 1 Ohms
It says it's 1 ohm stable on the auction so it should work fine.

I think you'd see better results with these subs in a ported box instead of a Bandpass.

HEY, Im new here, and I was wondering what can I get for 500 dollars, preferably at a retail store like Car Toys or Best Buy or Circuit City. Or any retail stores in TX. Im looking for some bang for the buck here. Wait the install kit is 85 dollars so the subs, box, and amp, will have to total $420. I understand witht hat amount its gonna be a budget system, but Im gonna get this started. Suggestions would be nice. THANX.
PS. Im COMPLETELY new to the car audio world.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

That would save me the box cost right?

get a alpine Type R and build a box. buy everything off ebay and you will save alot of money. get the swr 1222d which is 135 and then the hifonics bxi 1206d amp which is 230 and then a sheet of MDF is 20. so that is within your budget.

Explain what a sheet of MDF is plz... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

ANd the AMP is "Bridged RMS Power: Not Bridgeable". What does this mean? Im gonna be using two 12's.... soooo

AND I found this one::: http://cgi.ebay.com/HIFONICS-BRUTUS-BXI-1206D-1200W-AMPLIFIER-BXI1206D-NEW_W0QQitemZ250003262500QQihZ015QQcategoryZ18797QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

IS it THAT much better? Or should I go with the other one?

EDIT:: I would also need a capacitor. Which one is the best from here::: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=FARAD+CAPACITOR+

Yea, Im not sure I wanna mess with my cars stuff... [new to this] and try the big 3.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/scared.gif.f134e57c6c93ccd0f15aa5ac32c7d4a0.gif hehe

try it withhout a capacitor and see if you really need one. YOu may not even need to upgrade the electrical or go out and buy a cap. I skipped that and im just going to see how it works. Doing the big 3 isnt anythign crazy, you just replace or add a few wires here or there under the hood. You might have a friend whos handy with that stuff and will hook you up.

Yea I got a friend whos a savage... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif But he uses a cap too... hmm

EDIT::: My car lights dimm already as it is. VERY little, but I can tell.

try the BIG3 first then, you can save yourself alot of money since all your buying is a few feet of wire, terminals, and a crimper if needed.

it only costs like 15-20 bucks

How about this one:: http://sonicelectronix.com/item_1583.html

Great box. Quality carpet job, all seams sealed correctly and well, and the terminals are strong and functional. Perfect basic box to make two twelve's hit perfectly. Just remember this is a sealed box, so it will have a differnet sound than that of a ported or bandpass box, but if u want a tighter hitting bass, this box if perfect.

did you consider what I pm'ed you?
do the big 3, don't buy a capacitor, and if you need help I have saws and clamps and would HELP you build a box.
U would do that? Can yu help me with the big 3 too? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif hehe I KNOW Im lost in this

Ur like 5 hrs away... hahahaa
