Cool, does the box make a huge difference in sound? or..... am I just being crazy? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

The sub is rated only 350 rms... do they sound good?

A box can make or break your system. A poorly built box with air leaks will make it sound terrible while a well built box will make it sound great. Pre-built boxes like the ones you'll find at Best Buy / Circuit City aren't worth the money. You can probably make your own box for $30-40.

the box is basically every thing, it doesnt really matter what subs you use if you have a bad box. and just read the reviews on here of those assassins, they are killer.

Amp: Hifonics Brutus BX1000D - $225 shipped

SUBS: 2 12" Type R's - $247 shipped (You'll need to purchase TWO from that auction; cheapest and most reputable auction on ebay)

Wires: 4 g Wiring Kit - $32.49 shipped

BOX: 3/4 MDF; Wood Glue; Misc. - $30 TOPS

Enclosure Design: - Here (Or if those dimensions don't work for you, PM me and I'll get you some plans for $5)

Grand Total: $534.49

This setup should be very loud, and I'm sure most would agree. And, only $34 bucks over budget; I'm sure thats manageable.

Good luck! Feel free to PM any questions you may have!

put an extra 100 bux on the end of that, and you can have 4 kicker cvr 12's, and 2 power acoustic lt1440/2's....and if i had a sedan, and knew about the deal i found a few months ago...... http://www.etronics.com has some killer deals, and are very reputable, bought my pa lt1440/2 from them as a matter of fact, just didn't take the time to see that they had a badazz deal on the kicker subs as well.

x2 except for 225 you could get a pretty sweet used amp that does closer to 1500~1800 watts, which would be better for the aarrrs but id definatly recommend them over the assasins.

Hmmm... whats the RMS on the AMP at 2ohm? is the 700 MAX or RMS? it doesnt specify...

those are RMS ratings. but you should get two of those type r's, dual 4 ohm voice coils and wire them down to a 1 ohm load (see picture below); that way you'll get the most out of the amp

Cool.... so thats a really good amp then? Its stable at 1ohm?

I'm sure you could find someone on here to build a box for you. It'd probably be cheaper then the ones at Best Buy and it would also be a lot better.

Those Type R's that were mentioned earlier in the thread have dual 4 ohm voice coils. All subs have voice coils, some are single while others are dual and some come in quad coil configuration. Since the Type R's were dual 4 ohm, each individual sub can either be wired in parallel to 2 ohms each or in series to 8 ohms each. It depends on the amp you choose as to how you'll need to wire them. If you wire them at 2 ohms each, then you'll need a 1-ohm stable amp. If you wire them to 8 ohms each, then you'll need an amp that'll work at 4-ohms. It will probably be cheaper to find a 1-ohm stable amp to power them then to try to find a 4-ohm amp that will produce the same amount of power.
