5 channel vs 4 and "imaging" question.

Thanks to you folks my last install (on the wifes Wagoneer) went great and sounds incredible. (500/5 and four 6.5" JL components with a Boston 12").

I am now finishing my resto, a Cheyenne Super shortbed and have a couple items I want to use.

1 - the same ida-x100 as it in the other vehicles (user friendly)

2 - a "decent" amp but maybe not as nice as the 500/5, and not sure whether to get a 4 channel and "bridge" two for the sub or get a 5 channel with a separte sub channel? I really dont want separate amp for room reasons as it and the sub will be behind the bench seat.

3- NICE Speakers, but heres the quandry, I am going to use the low front kick panel openings for 6.5's and in talking to JL audio the tech mentioned I should use a coax instead of components!!... I also mentioned there were already 4" openings in the rear pillars within inches of my (and the passengers) heads and what about using those for additional 4' speakers. He said the imaging would be all wrong but if I wanted to I could simply run a set of component tweeters on the front pillars off the built in crossovers in the coax 6.5 JL's.

4- Anyone make a decent sub and enclosure for behind the bench in a std. cab?

so how about it guys ? what would you do? Coax's? Components? 6.5 AND 4"? Forget the rears? 5 channel?

I would recommend getting components in there somehow and ditching the rear fill. A 4 channel amp should be fine bridging 2 channels for a sub like you mentioned. I just did a setup for a buddy with a s2000. It has a 4 channel amp with image dynamic components and a 10 inch fosgate sub. It is a nice little sq setup and he is happy with it. It doesnt slam or anything but is sounds nice and the sub hits just fine. I think you should be fine with a decent 4 channel amp. Hope this helps and GL with the build.

I put 4 kicker c-10s in a sealed enclosure behind the seat of a 94 chevy, and put a set of Infinity components 6.5, and added another set of tweeters, with a Clarion Hu, and an Old school Mean Machine 44 on the subs, and a JBL GTQ 150 on the mids, and highs, and it sounded Amazing! I tried the JBL GTQ 400 in there first, but we changed it up to those amps, and had them raised approx 1/2in off the floor under the seats, and everything was hidden, and a real pain to get to as to keep a bit of deterant away.Yet, It was chest pounding bass, and loud clean/ clear mids, and highs, sounded absolutely awsome:D

heres something to think about..

I recently pulled my system out of my old car and did a basic system as it is my beater now.. Well everything is running of an mrf or mrp-250 idk either way a 4 channel.. well the rear is bridged and I figured all good.. as it has an lpf option.. on thing it does not have is a subsonic luckily I have it in a sealed box so it doesn't have as much issue if I had it ported but just something to think about

Ok ....so heres the "list" tell me if you think there may be problems or can suggest a better product in the same price range.

Head unit: Kenwood KIV-701 (less $ than the Ida-)

Amp: MB quart Q4.80 (bridged for the sub)

Sub: JL CS110TG (plug and play)

Components: DLS MS5 (in the kick panels tweeters on the a pillars)

whuddya think? (all new for 780 to my door)
