4v pre-outs = low or high input?

Using an Alpine deck with 4v pre-outs. Using JL Audio amps with Low and High Level inputs.

The low inputs are: 200mV - 2V

The high inputs are: 800mV - 8V

Does this mean I should use the High input setting? I would think so but to be perfectly honest, i have no clue?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

You should be using the High input setting to better match your 4 volt outputs. In a perfect world, your gain "should be" set at the halfway point on the 8v setting. Sadly the world is not perfect and you are going to need to adjust your gains with your ear!

If your Alpine has a subwoofer output, you are going to quickly find that even with the volume level at 15, it is nearly impossible to get 4 volts out of that set of RCAs. One of my tech friends said the subwoofer out will produce 4 volts at 1,000 Hz. That makes about as much sense as spending thousands to make a vehicle look fast while doing absolutely nothing to make it go fast.
