4V pre-out

I have a 4V sub pre-out on my alpine deck, does this mean I can turn the gain on my JBL 600.1 all the way up to 4V?

no this simply means you shouldnt have to turn your gains up as high to get the same output as say a 2volt output. i think anyway.

a higher Preout voltage does a couple things--------------- has more dynamic range.-------and a higher voltage level to push through the car OVER the noise.-----so yea IT would cause you to turn DOWN the gains on the amp---A good thing---with reguard to noise. HIGHER preout voltage shows a certain quality about the preout stage design.---with reguard to noise prevention
