4th order tuning questions

What's a good number to shoot for when tuning a 4th order for daily beating? Does the ratio of the 4th order affect what frequency you are shooting for? If I build one it will most likely be a 2:1. Ported and sealed I can design and build no problem but never really had anyone break down the ins and outs of 4th order design to me. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Pretty much do this. Build the shell and the sealed side and load woofers in and run a sweap. Most people want the res freq to be 45hz-49hz and you can make the sealed side smaller or bigger to get that number... Once you do that you tune the ported side to your sealed sides res freq. port area can be around half the inches of cone area you have for starting and make port bigger or small until you find your sweet spot.

^I agree with him for the most part

Tune to resonant frequency of the sealed section (make sure subs are broken in), I usually shoot for about 45-52hz. If you can't measure it, there are calculations you can do with the TS params and enclosure size for a good estimate.

Start with the port area around 1/3 cone area for lower power or 1/2 for higher power and adjust from there

pretty much what Massive stated.

For a daily, I'd do 44-46 tuning with ~60% of cone area for port area.

I enjoyed my 1.5:1 ratio over my 2:1 for musicality, although my 2:1 was noticeable louder

Anywhere from 1.5-2:1 ratio would suffice
