4th order bandpass, wheel well design :) (design inside)

going to attempt to make something like this.

its not drawn to scale, but it was rather difficult explaining to people what I wanted to make without having a pic.

so, there it is!

going to have a semi circle perspex window in the top, 4th order bandpass, using the spare tyre well, and the area available above it.

vented through the rear deck

basically no trunk space used!

anyone see any massive problems with the general design? lol, ofcouse, nothing is to scale, so volumes arent correct, that will all be worked out once I start building, or atleast after I measure the car

Wouldn't the change in port shape cause turbulence issues? Could you extend the slot pot to the back dash-panel thing (wtf is that called)?

I normally call it a "parcel shelf" or "rear deck"

however, mine already has a 11inch diameter hole in it from a stock subwoofer, so I could use a rectangle port going through it, but that would just look weird.

I dont know if the rectangle to round transition will cause turbulence, but I guess there's only one way to find out.

That would cause massive turbulance, you would almost absolutely be able to hear "chuffing". Keep it rectangular and i see no problems with your design as long as the volumes fit where you plan.

if its the same port area, and is lots of port area (which it is, a 6inch port for a single 12inch driver) I dont think there will be chuffing...

the other option is to make the round part bigger than 6inches, 8inches maybe, so its no longer an extension of the tuned port //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

interesting design wat size sub is this for...im sure u can build something not as complex

80
12inch... and why less complex?

edit: hang on! thats not complex anyway!

its just a box, with the bottom extended into the spare tyre well using fibreglass, a divider down the middle somewhere, and an external slot port.
