4th order bandpass port area?

as large as you have the space for. it might not be good to exceed the cone area of the sub/s.
port area: 250sq in

sub cone area: roughly 1k sq in

that gonna be okay? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

just playing with large 4th order designs and trying to get the hang of it

How have the two setups in your avalanche sounded? Did they sound like regular ported 15" type r's with all lows nothing over 55hz or did they sound decent?. Do the dc's sound better? I like your designs better than trying a 4th order, sealing off half the sub is never good for output.

Port area doesnt go by cone area. It goes by size of ported airspace. The air in the ported area is "excited" by the sub, and the larger the ported area the more air it excited, therefore it needs a bigger port.

Thats why all the loudest vehicles and most 159.9 Bassracers except for a few are all 4th orders? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Yep. Big 4th order walls are fun.

Can be designed for VERY flat response, depending on the sub(s).

ive been playing with the designs a bit, and i'll have to go take some measurements to really maximize the port (if i even do this design).

I am going to guess ill be spamming your PM box over the next couple weeks, so be ready for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

both of the boxes did very well for what they were designed for. the R's DESTROYED the lows, hard.

the DC's are tuned to peak quite a bit higher, and have much more high frequency output than the R's, but the lows arent the same. I'de have to say this setup is more loud to the ear.

Between the two setups, i've found i really do like low end bass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
