4ohm to 1ohm????

ok after eduacating myself on this site i realized that my amp was wired to 4 ohms at the shop where i bought my amp and subs. i origanally bought 2 l7's and a hifonics 1605d. that amp at 4 ohms puts out 550 rms watts, always wondereed why my l7's didn't sound as hard as my friends with a weaker amp. now i have 2 type r's and it sounds good but not untill the volume is pretty high. also the bass boost is set al the way up, set up at the shop where i bought it from. my question is when i change to 1 ohm should turn down the bass boost al the way or turn it completly off

bass boost should never be used..

Shouldn't need to use the bass boost to begin with.

also how bad would this be for my alternator, i have audi a4 if the makes a difference

the shop turned up the bass boost? i don't think the shop knows what they are doing.
