4ogm amp, 2ohm components. question

my ea2000 only runs at 4ohms, but it will be replaced due to lack of power for my new XXX mids. anyway, the XXX mids are 2ohm. will i still be able to run them on a 4ohm amp. such a noob question im sorry

According to your amplifier specs, it is not stable, you can give it a shot and see how it takes it..

Ya i had the same amp and contacted Eclipse to make sure the specs were right and they said that runing it two ohms will damage the amp..

that's weird -- there's no mention of 2 ohm stereo power, but it IS bridgable to 4 ohms mono - which, impedance wise is the same thing as 2 ohms stereo. At 175w bridged it SHOULD do about 90x2 at 2.

that's what i figured to but to be safe i called Eclipse and they said no. the amp is only a 4 ohm stable amp and putting any 2 ohm load on it will damage the amp. i was wow that's really wierd. and they didn't say nothing.

Considering you said you are getting rid of it due to the "lack of power"

Buy and amp that is stable at 2 ohm. There's plenty of them out there.

I have the same problem with my Memphis PR300.2 it is bridgeable into 1 channel at 4 ohms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif memphis said that it is not stable bridged to 2 ohms.

I just realized that you said it won't even run stereo into 2, wow, that does ****

You can bridge it @ 8 ohms for temporary use until your new amp comes.

i dont belive it does 8ohms. even if it did, it would be worthless. it only does 65 x 2 @ 4ohms

Chances are that there is a switch to bridge the amp. That switch probably changes the rail voltage to keep from toasting the outputs when bridged.
