i have 4 speakers already hooked up to a 300/4 JL amp. i just got a box with 2x 12" kenwood 3011 subs and a 1000 watt max amp. how would i go about hooking the sub/amp

would i go from the subs amp to the jl so i dont have to wire extra rca/remote from my new amp or should i just wire everything seperate?

Well since you have rca's for the subs I say use it. Also you may need a dual amp kit if you don't have the wires and stuff already ran.

well what does it consist of...my jl and speakers are all set...and my friend who sold me my sub gave me ground cable, power cable with fuse, and remote

another question. he told me one of the subs was blown (i have one to replace it with). i checked the fuses (2) in the amp and one of them was visibly blown, the other couldnt really tell. ive replaced them but could the blown fuse have made him think he blew his speaker?

Sub out from HU to sub Amp. remote wire from JL amp to sub amp. Power and ground should be in different spots relative to the Jl amps power/ground.

The blown fuse could mean a lot of things. Just hook it all up and see if the amp works. If not, then check all your wiring. If that doesn't work then the amp is blown.

thanks dude, the impression that i got from him was that one of his subs wasnt working but the other was, which would mean the amp isnt blown....correct? im hoping thats the case

and when you say keep the power away from JL's...isnt that gonna be kinda hard when they both goto the battery?

you will also want to hook up the sub amp to the sub rca's in the hu because the eq in the hu runs those separatly. like the bass boost, you have to have them pluged into the sub rca in the hu to use that.

remote wire..just splice into the jl amp and get the remote from there..the rca..from the HU to the amp for the subs...you can control your sub amp and speaker amp better this way...as far as the power..get a distribution block for multiple amp set up..this way..you run one power wire to the block, and then from the block you can split it in 2,3 or 4 ways..good luck

where can i get a power distriubtion block, how much would it cost, and is it really necessary?

you can get 1 on ebay for 10 bucks. since you already have the wire, there isn't a problem to do a seperate run to the battery for each amp. the distro block is easier, but not neccesary.

ok another question.....i probably shouldnt be running my 12 guage speaker amp wire to the distro block...and then a 4 guage one from that to my sub amp...right? so im back to step 1....getting my thick 4 guage wire to my battery...

i have a 1998 eclipse if anyone knows where to run the power cable

your speaker wire go from your amp, to your subs or speaker..only your power wire goes into the block..depending on how much watts is your system its how you determine the size of the power/ground wire...less then 1000 watts..4gauge is good..anything above that Ill go 0gauge..
