4 ohm vs 8 ohm

I have the option to wire my sub at 2, 4 or 8 ohms. Theoretically the power will be the same to the sub however there are other real world factors and I would like to hear from those who understand the technical differences.

Some factors I don't fully understand the amp designs but - at 2 ohms the amp will be pushing 4X the current and 1/4 the voltage versus 8 ohms. This has to make a difference based on the output transistors in a typical amp. The voltage swing will be limited by the transistor switching rate (capacitance) and the current will be limited by the transistor resistance. I suspect both are well below anything that affects audio frequencies. Also while probably very minor transmission loss in the cable is less for higher voltage. Does this make any difference? Noise immunity would also be different. I guess the bottom line is does anyone have experience with wiring the same amp and sub at different ohm loads?

um what sub and amp:uhoh:

but it depends on what ever amp you are using and what ever sub you are using...if the amp works best at 2ohm...then wire the sub to 2 ohm...etc..etc

Amp is a Lanzar heritage 226(?) rated at 300 watts rms bridged, 4-8 ohm stable bridged and used only for the sub. Sub is a small 10" - don't have much room for the sub. Amp is overkill I suspect... I don't think either wiring arrangement will make much difference in my set-up but I am trying to understand and plan ahead.
