Downfiring 10 or Foward Firing 8?

I'm building a system for my truck (NISSAN TITAN) and I can buy a pre-made box that has a mounting depth of 5.75 inches. I wanted to do RLI-10's but they require 5.6 inches mount depth. Now if the back of the box is angled it might be .16 inches on one side of the magent and 3x as much space on the other, but I don't want to fry mmy subs.

My other option is to build a forward firing box, I could onyl fit 8's but would not be limited on mounting depth as much, I sceen one guy put 2 JL 8W7's under his rear seats. However I don't think 10's would fit pointed towards the front.

I cannot TRY both options once I commit I am commited.

I'm going for a SQL system

would 2 RLi-10's downfiring be better than 2 RLi-8's forward firing?

I can also go with JL W3's 10's downfiring or JL W7 8's forward firing. I believe the JL W3's will fit better than the RLi-10's but I wanted to do something different.

have a 300x2 @ 2 ohm or 600x1 @ 4 ohm amp.

Thanks for any input.

well it is somewhat an issue, However I could fit JL 10W3's so it's not exactly an issue...Might even be able to fit the 10 if hte box is angled up from one side of the magnet to the other (due to shape of box to fit snug under the seats.

But sound wise would a 10 downward firing sound like crap compaired to an 8 forward firing? Also with a forward firing sub they will be visable as they will be under the rear seat, and will also be easier to damage unless I can fab some grills.

In your position, I would get two RL-I 8's regardless. They are some hard hitting subs, get them. You will not be dissapointed at all.

The RLi 8's are actualy deeper than the 10s so they would need to go in forward firing and a custom box.

These will be louder and more clear SQ than W3 10's?

I had 2 JL 12W0's before so I hope I would not be disapointed with 8's in the output department, I have never heard 8's that hit low will these do it?

Final option is JL Stealthbox if it ever even comes out of a KC Titan....I think it will have 2 W3 10's in it.

I'm not exactly concerned with cost as all these options are affordable IMO.

The 8's are not louder than the 10's would be, but it would be what I would prefer in your case. BTW. my brother drives a TITAN

Interesting, can you explain why?

also how would you compare these subs in words to my 2 JL W0 12's I want to get rid of?

Also the floor will be be deadened with 2 layers of RAAMAT and Ensolite foam.

Well I doubt I will be able to play with the enclosure much anyways, I am very limited on space and design, I don't plan to do fiberglassing more than once inside my new vehicle or I am bound to spill some..

How will these 8's compaire to my 2 12 W0's that I am used to

Here is a link to what the probox im looking at looks like installed. It holds 2 10's and has 5.75 inches of mounting depth.

here is the box that fits the titan with a slight modification, I do not know if hte box for the 12's fits or how it gets the extra mounting depth.

This is the box installed in the titan KC.

This is a front firing box made for a JL W8, I'm not crazy about the way it is munte dto be honest since I tend to load up the back and put up the seats to load camping stuff pretty often. This is also for the CC and I have a KC so the back seat has less room.

Now then, is the 8 inch Sound Splinter a better choice than teh W7 8? Why is the RLi8 Better choice than the RLi 10 downfiring?

I want something that will be about as loud as my 2 JL12W0's but with MUCH better SQ.

I need to know WHY I should go with 8's other than tuning the box, because I will be extreamly limited as to how to tune the box anyways.

I'm sorry if I'm not buing the hugest monster woofers, If could I would, But I'm really hoping someone can help so I did not do about $3000 worth of work to my truck for no reason, or have to go through subwoofer hell.

So your all saying that 2 RLI'8s in a forward firing box will both sound better and get louder than 2 JL 10W3 V2's in something like a stealthbox?

RLI no longer has any 8's untill Fall so that is no longer an option. I dunno what to do now.

Adire has not released the new Koda 10's,

The rli 10" has less than a 1/2 inch of clearance from the bck of the box.

Looks like W3V2's are my only Choice left and I feel I should wait for the stealthbox to save some Space if I go that Route?

Is this my only decent option then?
