ok, I have a kicker 03cvr12-4 ohm dvc sub rated @ 500 watts RMS. powered by a kenwood kac-8104D (just upgraded from kac-7201 - 850 watt, 2-channel amp - so I thought it was an upgrade). i've wired the sub @ 2 ohms 1st ( + to + on sub then to + on amp // - to - on sub then to - on amp) I crank it up about 1/2 the vol w/ amp input level about halfway and bass boost to bout 6db and within 30 seconds the amp went to safe mode. then wired the sub in series ( +1 to amp, +2 to -2, and -1 to amp) which I thought would be a 4 ohm load but after looking at some diagrams I thimk its an 8 ohm load. any way, left all the amp levels the same, turned the volume on the head unit up to a little below what I normally would set it at, and as soon as I started to get a decent bass level, the amp went into safe mode again. what am I doing wrong? how can I wire this thing to work as it should? thank you in advance
