4 inch coils?

my hcca's hav 4 inch coils and will blow anybody out of the water:p: and besides dood voice coil size isnt wat u should go by, try RMS!
i'm thinking about making some frankinsubs. but i'm wondering if it will be worth the extra because of the 4 inch coils. so who knows what the rms will be. and who just puts rms to subs?

2 kicker l7's 6 sony xplods in seal boxes hooked up to a kicker zx.1500.1 wired at a 2 ohm load in my back seat.

than I have a pile of diffrent brands, kicker 10", jensen 12", 15" , poineer 12", Mtx(2.5 v/c)

2 inch works for me, but I like SQL over SPL

didn't know l7's had 2 inch coils. i'm running pioneer now myself. one time i had the cheap infinity 1230's i think on at least 1000 and they sounded great. IMO for what they are.

rms DOES NOT mean loud. Loud has so many factors that go into the equation, that rms is really irrelivent

I beg to differ a little bit, because ultimately more power means a higher force is acted on the coil... Though it would probably have a similar net force of a lighter coil with less power and whatnot. Net force is what you want, and more power increases force in one direction, so really more power is rather desirable for a higher possible net force...

alot of companys put the rms lower than what they can take. keeps them from replacing so many subs. just my 2 cents.

I feel that, but at the same time, just because you pour gobs of power to a sub, doesn't mean it will get louder. That only works up to a point. The OP is speaking on a daily basis also, not just burps or what not, so we're trying to keep the sub functional for a while, not give it 2-3x rms.

In a burp situation, I can see exactly where you are coming from, but this is not the case daily...... Not always anyway. I've seen 150db come in all kinds of power apps, so power alone is not the main factor in loud

Yeah, easily the case. All I'm trying to say is more power means more force from the coil's electromagnetic field acting on the permanent magnetic field/vice versa. This is undeniable. Though, there are MANY factors for converting electrical power to acoustic power. Haha.
