4 gauge power wire

Just want to know what you guys think what's the biggest amp you would run off a 4 gauge from the battery with and with out a battery in the trunk or even if having one in the trunk matters if your only

running 4 gauge

If you are using CCA 4 gauge, which is the cheaper stuff, I personally wouldn't do an amp larger than 500w rms. If you get good OFC 4 gauge cable you might be okay with a 1000w rms amp.

CCA 4ga - ~100 amps of current flow

OFC 4ga - ~150 amps of current flow

Check your fuse ratings and amplifier draw and make an educated decision. With or without a battery only matters to a point... If you limit the pipeline from the trunk battery to the starting battery, that is your limiting factor. You will only perform as good as your weakest link.

How do I find out if my wire is cca or ofc what I do have is and American bass install kit I did look for the cca or ofc and didn't find either

You can look at the end of the wire to see if it's CCA. CCA wire will show copper on the strands but if you look at the cut ends it will be silver.

For wire that appears silver, strip a length of it and scrape the strands with a razor blade or knife. Tinned copper will reveal the copper as you scrape off the surface layer.

exactly ,but some ofc wire is not tinned ,so you can tell from the weight as well
