Ok, i have a 4 channel MTX amp(Thunder 4200x), and i am wanting to push a DVC sub(Kicker Solo Baric DVC 2ohm) is it ok(SAFE) to hook up channels 1 & 2(Bridged) to one coil, and 3 & 4(bridged) to the other coil. and obviously the same signals being sent to all of the channels. Does anyone know, or can i get a diagram, or any information at all??.........i have not yet purchased the sub yet, so if needed i can order the Dual 4 ohm model instead of the dual 2 ohm model...the specs on the amp are.....

Specs:

25 Watts RMS/CH x 4 into 4 ohms

50 Watts RMS/CH X 4 into 2 Ohms

100 Watts RMS Bridged X 2 into 4 Ohms

200 Watts Dynamic Power (IHF-202) Bridged into 4 Ohms (14.4 VDC)

RMS Power Ratings @ 12.5 VDC, Hz-20KHz

Features:

Left & Right Rear Gain Control

Thunder EQ Control 0 to +18dB @ 40Hz

Crossover Frequency 50 - 200Hz

Crossover ON/OFF

Crossover HP/LP

Rear Left and Right Input RCA Jack

Summed Left and Right Output RCA Jack

Front Left and Right Input RCA Jack

This amplifier can operate in Bridged and Stereo modes simultaneously.

Yes, it's safe.

In your case, since the amplifier is apparently not rated to be stable into 2ohms bridge or 1ohm per channel, you would need the dual 4ohm version in order to not risk damaging the amplifier. You'll want to be sure that all of the gain controls and crossover frequencies are set as close to identically as possible, not for reasons of potential damage, but rather as to be sure you extract full performance.

However, you need to seriously consider upgrading amplifiers. That one will work short term to give you a little bass....but it isn't nearly enough power for a Solobaric.

thank you for the information, yeah i know i need to upgrade amp, i was using that amp to power all my highs(kicker components in the front, and kicker 3.5" coaxials in the headrests, yeah i said headrests) in my car(a 92 miata), i grabbed that amp off of ebay for 40 bucks or so, so it was pretty much a steal, but now i need a little bit of bass, so i am running the highs off the deck(pioneer DEH-P7800MP) now, and they sound ok:rolleyes: but eventually, i will buy a larger amp....but anyway, thanks again for the information, you have been a tremendous help!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
