4 channel amp acts like 2 channel amp

Hello all,

New here...

I installed a 4 channel amp, 1 channel to run each of the 4 speakers and I noticed two things first my HU fader doesnt work correctly it seems to lower the volume but does not fade front to rear and I can dissconnect any 2 channels from the amp and all 4 speakers will still have sound I can do this in any combination and still all speakers will have sound...what did I do wrong here?

I just went out to take another look at it...dont know if this factors in or not but, if I disconnect all of the rca inputs from the HU and stick just the pos of any of them in to the connector I get 2 speakers making sound, doesnt the rca's have to have ground and pos to work??? doesnt make sense to me...I also noticed my "polarity" button doesnt seem to make any change at all...do I maybe have a ground or polarity issue causing this????

More likely a bad rca or amp. If you have a rca to aux cord. You could plug a iPod directly into the amp and see what speakers work or don't. That would tell you if the rca or amp is the issue

take a picture of the settings panel of your amp..

make sure your RCA's are run properly, as in 2 full runs for 4 RCAs total with the front on front and rear on rear on the headunit

This is a mini amp (not much space in a Jeep) not a lot to it no panel aside from a gain, polarity button and low/high input button all 4 channel outs, power lead, ground, remote turn on switch are just wires straight out of the unit it has a plug in for the remote vol knob and a plug in for mp3 player...

This is how i have it run:

HU rca outs (has rca 6 outs) 1&2 is the front L/R brand new rca cable to amp ch1& ch2

3&4 rear L/R brand new rca cable to amp ch3 & ch4

I then ran wire from amp (ch1 & ch2) directly to the front speakers (ch1 to L & ch2 to R)

I ran wire from the amp over to the HU harness and tied into the rear speakers from there (seemed easier than running all new wire to the rear...

I dont get why it would still have audio to the speakers with just 1 pos lead connected, does that mean i have a ground somewhere else that is allowing the signal to complete and that is the issue???//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Could be grounding out somewhere if recheck alm the new wiring to make sure it's ok
