Power problems

I have a 2006 expedition that came with the 5-disc cd changer deck. I replaced the stock deck with a pioneer unit after the cd part stopped working. After some time, the pioneer lost power completely. I put the factory deck in, and got the same exact problem, with a twist.. If you turn the headlights on, the clock lights up on the deck, and the CD player makes motor noises like its searching for a cd. I get no audio at all, but I can set the clock on the factory unit but nothing works on the pioneer. What is causing this?

connect your aftermarket headunit directly to the battery, Red and Yellow together on power, ground to ground and see what happens.

So I'm guessing the switched power not connecting if this works..mainly because since the clock still holds time the constant 12 volt must be working

You know, if it is, just get a multimeter and measure the ignition wire with the car on and off.
