4 batteries in trunk

Ok, so im very familiar with how to wire an additional battery. As of now i just run the battery in my trunk in parellel to the my front battery. I plan on adding an additional 3 batteries to my trunk for a total of 4. So my question is should I run 4 runs of wire from my front battery positive to the batteries in the trunk, along with 4 runs of wire from the front battery negative to the negative posts on the trunk batteries? Please im open to all suggestions, and ive seen someone run wire from the alternator to the positive on each battery in the back. If theres any confusion please let me know and ill respond ASAP

depends on how much amperage/watts you plan on running.

General rule is about 300amps or 3000watts for 1/0 ofc wire.

About 200amps or 2000watts for 1/0 cca wire.

So if you plan on running 5000 watts. Do 2 runs of 1/0 ofc.

And yes. If you can. For everyone positive run also do a negative run of wire.

Electricity is a 2 way street. Your grounds are extremely important. Just as important as your power.

thank you! it just seemed like alot of wire coming off the front battery, would running the wire off the alternator to the back be more effiecent? And itll be around 7000 rms so im thinking 3 runs of 3/0 will be suitable?

You are on the right track! You definitely don't want your wire to get hot because as everyone knows. Heat means your losing power through efficicency.

3 runs of 3/0 is overkill. And I like overkill //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Do it!

Just connect the alternator to the front battery with some of that welding cable and from that battery do your 3 runs.

So your going to do 6 runs total? 3 power and 3 ground?

I did 3 runs of power and ground for my car and I originally ran a 5000 watt amp. Overkill is the best way to do this hobby

Haha i wouldnt call it over kill, Its a preventive measure! And yes 6 runs total, also do you think a 250 amp HO alt will support all this or am i looking at an additional alternator as well? this is my first big build it will be 4 15s in a wall in my car, just want to make sure im covering every angle. Id hate to have all this assembled and not be able to enjoy it because i have to order additional parts

Infowars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smart man!

No. A 250amp alternator will run your system yes. But the voltage will probably stay around 12-12.6.

What kind of car? Is there room for a 320 amp alternator? Is it manual or automatic?

Well. The guys on this forum would call it overkill. 1/2 the members on here would tell you to run 2 runs of power CCA wire and just upgrade your grounds to your frame...

But the way you are going about it is FAR SMARTER.

Info wars is the only reason I look forward to heading to work!

My car is a 2006 ford fusion 2.3 I4 automatic, the biggest alternator they make for it is a 270a. I think I'm kinda stuck with the 250a. I'm just running overkill for the fact of if I upgrade subs one day, I'd rather not waste my money on cheap wire when I know I'll have to upgrade it eventually.

I run 3k rms off a 140a alt, 1 battery under the hood, 2 in the trunk and my system only drops to 13v on heavy hitting low notes... no dimming of lights. I have the big 3 done with 2/0 wire. I have 2 runs of power and ground. I have all of this into 2 12's and they sound good.

My other ride, I have 5k total (mono and mids/highs) running off a 320a alt, 1 bat under hood and 1 in trunk... and it doesn't drop much either. This runs my gcons and polk comps... it sounds nice as well.

Just for a reference point...

LOL that is awesome.

Ok. So. Throw in that 250A alternator. You will just have to rely on batteries for the reserve to run your system. But you can do it.

Bumpin Buck (SPL competitor) runs 1 320A alternator and 5 batteries for his atomic 7k.
