Curious, but has it occurred to anyone here that his design might *not* be SPL driven?
Based on his box parameters, he built an overdamped design - one that is not peaky at any frequency and will probably generate the undistorted lows that subs are suppose to produce.
It is clear he wanted to move air in his large environment. He would accomplish that with four 18" subs of any brand (yeah, even Funky Pups //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) and I think he did. I am personally honoured that he chose Mach 5, and will help him with anything he may require assistance with.
Regarding ports, having two 6" ports per enclosure is sufficient to keep port velocity down to acceptable levels. Rounding the ends would help to reduce port noise even further. I can certainly understand the requirement for more port area *if* this build was SPL driven, but given the design, I don't think it is.
If however, he determines that port noise is evident, he could go with a third 6" port, but that would mean increasing port length of all three to ~18.5". This may have a negative affect on overall box volume since three ports this size equates to approximately 0.9 cubes. Adding a fourth would increase the area to over 2 cubes which means a *lot* of room lost.
And finally, covering a box with carpet hides a multitude of sins... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
