4-16 ohm... wtf?

bought some bullet tweets this past week so i could apply a coupon to an order for mids, anyhow all specs on them list them as 4-16 ohm.. wtf is up with this? can anyone explain? im assuming their 16 ohm but wanted to make sure before deciding to find a small amp to power them.

Beats me, I'd look up the model number elsewhere and see what you get.

maybe its 8 ohms, so The final load can be from 4-16 ohms with the two wired up together?

that seems like the best answer i've gotten lol, never thought about that. I was just like wtf when I saw it, reminded me of those old infinity subs you could switch impedance on. Sometimes the answer is right in front of us apparently.

I'd rather get the Vifa semi horn-loaded tweets from Madisound if you want something with good efficiency and plan on crossing them above 3khz...they won't take up nearly as much space, and they're cheaper. it doesnt really matter, thats why they list them like that, probably pro audio horns or bullets, no matter how you wire them they will be loud as ***

you need to understand how nominal impedance works, a speaker isnt going to be (ex) 4 ohms across the board at any given frequency

I figured so, I was just saying those would work so long as he wasn't going to cross lower than 3khz.

I think the 4-16ohm reference is that your amp needs to be 4 - 16ohm stable.. if you look at the back of an old reciever or PA amp they often say 8-16ohm or 4-8ohm in reference to the speaker load they can handle...
