4 15" Type Rs or 2 18" BTLs

gonna have a sundown 3000d..this will be in a 2dr jeep..
Are you going to have a sundown 3000d for each BTL? I mean if not the 1 will still run the 2 18" BTL's but they would constantly be asking for more.. IMO run a 3000d to each //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

lol i dont have that much money..

I think with only a Sundown 3000d I think the 4 Type R's would be the best choice of the 2 options, as that would be almost the perfect amount of power for them

Also may want to look into 4 BLs, to get a little bit better of a SQ and sill be loud

It kinda depends on the box you design for it, but...

Why do you guys think that the BTL's need SOO much power?

If it's for SPL burps I could see putting a 3000 on each, but for daily it's not needed.

Speaking from personal experience.... I've used (3) different amps on a fully loaded 18" BTL in a 7cuft box tuned to 32hz with 100sq.in. of port over the last few years....

Old School 99' Orion HCCA275R

Planet Audio VX2200D

RF t30001bd

The HCCA275R and VX2200D were pretty much on the same level giving the sub around 1500rms. The VX2200D pushed the sub nicely as you can see in my Fi BTL excursion video on youtube...

When I installed the RF t30001bd I also isntalled a 260amp alt, a 2nd G31 yellow top and another run of 1/0 gauge. The BTL got ridiculously loud, but IMO it was a lil too much power for the sub daily. Sure, the BTL took the power, but if you tried to play it at close to full tilt for the length of a song you could smell the VC heat up before the song was finished. Eventualy the tinsel leads broke and I decided to just sell it with a recone and get (2) 18" RE MT's instead which took the power of my t30001 very well.

If you watch Steve Meades Video's you will even hear him say "better let them cool down... getting smelly" in a few of his vids.

I've never owned the MT or BTL, but from what I've gathered on these forums I was under the impression that the MT had cooling problems and the BTL handles power better... I guess different installs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
