4 12's play lower than 2 15's?

here is something for your. my friends 15 L7 @ 32 plays higher than my 12'' R @ 34. but i'd still take 2 15'' L7 over 4 12'' R's any day. I have been down the road your going down. I am doing a SB2 setup for the summer and then i am doing 2 15'' L7's off 4k. my reason is because the L7's will take up less space. my box will be 9 cubes @ 32-34hz

before you do anything you should make a new box. my friends one 15L7 setup you are not able to sit in his car for a full song. and with 2 l7's that should be easy to accomplish.

i used to have 4 12's in my car and they were preaty loud
what subs? what amp?

If you're worried about getting low then why would you tune that high? Think about 33hz ish..
yeah maybe 32 or how about 30?

i used to have kittens in my car and they were pretty cute //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I would also agree that it depends upon the sub & box/tuning. Try tuning lower as mentioned.

I had a chance to listen to 4 JL 12's in a big ported box the other day. They were in a Durango. It was quite loud, but didn't hit as low or hard as my single 15. Mine seemed to have a lot more punch, his just seemed to make a LOT of noise. Owner was rather surprised, especially when he asked about AudioQue and I told him I got it at Wal Mart LOL

they were both daily setups. the R was in 3 cubes and the L7 was in 4. The R had ummmmmmmm i think a bxi2006d @ 2 ohms on it and the l7 had a bxi1606d.

when i get 2 L7's it will be strictly a daily box. i will be powering it with 4k. i will be doing a vent port in the middle horizontaly on the back of the box and then the subs up near the back.

in reference to getting lower.... cone area don't mean shit, within reason. Its all about the woofers.

Ummm, not true. Low end extension is directly related to displacement, displacement is obviously derived from cone area and excursion.

It's not entirely dependent on cone area or excursion, but they both play a roll, so yes "it does mean shit."
