4 12's play lower than 2 15's?

would 4 12's be louder/plar lower than 2 15s?

i've got 2 15 l7s(450 sq in. of cone area). 4 regular 12's would be 452 sq. in. of cone are but how much more piston are would that be?

4 12's obviously have more surface area to work with so yes it would be louder, but the lowness is debatable.

but that question is a little broad so its hard to answer. it depends on what specific subs and the power involved

not much more surface are, only 2 sq. in..

the power is 3200 rms from a colossus, the subs are my 15 l7s. i'm not really happy with them, they're tuned to about 37 hz. thinking abour getting 4 12" round subs instead, maybe the type r's

they're getting 3200 rms and they don't seem that loud to me. could possibly be the box. would tuning to 32 hz. help out?

i just thought having 4 12s would be lower since there are 4 motors instead of 2

well what are the 12's and whats the amp? and how big is the current box net cubic footage wise? 37hz will definitely hurt your lows...

15's will have slightly lower Fs thans 12's, brand/model being the same. But the enclosure type/design/size/alignment will dictate the low frequency characterictics of the over all system much more than the cone size differences.

If you're worried about getting low then why would you tune that high? Think about 33hz ish..
