+3db's... double power.. ect..

ok as i've read many times+3db's is roughly equal to doubling your power...

but thats only true once you hit like 130+ or even higher right...?
It's actually more likely to hold true at lower levels. As you get closer to the sub's limits, doubling power isn't going to do much since you'll be experiencing power compression and reaching the thermal/physical limits of the speakers.

 
lol main reason im asking is cause i ordered a couple of the 6.5 tang subs for $25ish from parts express when they were on sale.. nice little speakers (esp for the sale price) but very very inefficient =\

 
yea i know, they do get pretty low for 6.5s... my peerless 6.5's get a little lower but the tangs have a little more snap to them

 
doubling your power wont do crap if the driver is already moving its full stroke
