$350 Box Build???

Alright its for a Monte Carlo. 2 15's 6 cubes at 40 hz.

Price includes material, going to get the material and builing it IN TRUNK.

1 weekend. What do you think? Is it fair?

Well the material is an hour from me.(small town) Have to drive and get it. Standard box but has to be built in trunk. Its basically a fresh bill of materials cuz it doesn't happen often.

Any box builder is at least 2-3 hrs away. I'm building it.

Just to clarify how small this town is. 1 sheet of .75" MDF is an *** raping $80...lol

So I mean for the area and hassle for the person to do it themselves I think its fair.

WOW, You guys jump on the youre getting ripped band wagon!

1) You don't have the details of box design and finish

2) even with your $80 in materials that leaves $270 for labor, tools usage and other misc items. If it took 8 hours (which is within reason) that is less than $35/hr.

I don't think this price is off at all.

What is wrong with someone making a $ for their time effort and skill?

Do you have access to birch ply? if so it may be cheaper in your situation

Well I'm looking at getting a 10" Quikrete tube for port and I have to drive to the Depot to get it so.... its a while I'm there sorta thing.

Sounds reasonable for an in-trunk build. That does depend on the skill of the person doing the service, though.

IF thats the case then its fair, i do not really bother with boxes online as there is wayyy to much competition and you have to work for much smaller profits.

For local customers ill charge $250 for a simple ported box, only other place around they can go is cartoys.

With such a small town i doubt you have any competition, i say do it.

for an in trunk build I think that's perfectly fair...especially if you pay 2-3x what most pay in materials...

i agree. i charge 200$ per custom ported box for 2 12's. i have friend prices though. it's alot of work to do things for everyone without charging labor. after material, i make about 160$ of every 200 i charge. around 16$ per hour for most boxes. if i could get a better table saw, i could cut time down alot.

I planned on pics. Hence the weekend to do it

Its just a quick quote for recommended size. As soon as materials are paid for is when we start.
