i took the back plate off so where should I be lookin for burn spots? I cant see anything and I cant smell any burn but where should I look at?

Check your fuses.. I had a similar issue with my setup, turned out to be a fuse issue. Make sure its secure, and is still good...

Look around all the fets and input and output also around power supply..

You say the power light comes on then goes to protect? Turn the truck on then turn the h/u off then turn the h/u back on.
