300 watt amp too big?

To power most sets of comps? I want new interior speaks, and a new sub amp, but don't want to have to get a new component setup.

Its a cadence Z9000

300X2 @ 4ohm

400x2 @ 2ohm

Could a comp set handle it with gains way down?

As was mentioned, Boston's like power. But, it all depends on your budget aswell.
