a friend of mine wants me to help him find some some nice speakers, he has exacly $300,

he has nothing right now everything is stock, he will throw subs in thier in the near future. but for right now just wants a head unit, and some componants or somthing. he just wants it to sound good..

for head unit, im thinking the low 2005 alpine Here it plays mp3's n shit. looks good. but for componants i have no clue, i dont really know much about em, so i was hoping someone here does.

thanks

his stock speaker specs..

Front speakers size: 5/14" depth 2.5

rear speakers size: 5X7" depth 2.5

With only $300, and that amount needing to include a HU and speakers (and possibly an amp), I'd go for either;

1) Keeping the stock HU in the car (if it's a late model car w/ CD player)

-or-

2) getting a HU and going with quality co-axials rather than components, since components would basically require an amp to extract their full benefits.

ya with only 300$ whould it be good to run speakers off headunit? i mean i doubt he needs 300watt speakers in his car. he just wants somthing to sound nice and better then his stock. so what would u recomend running off headunit?

Any good quality co-axial. Boston Acoustics, Focal, Pioneer REV series are nice, MB Quart, etc etc. You should be able to hear most of them at your local dealers. Take an afternoon, grab your buddy and hit up the local shops //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif Let his ears decide what the best ones to go with are.

will co-axials have enough powr to run off a head unit though? cus most of em i see are like 50-150rms. would 16rms get em pounding?
50-150w RMS are components. well my DA D661S components are ~170W RMS and DA CM361 components (rear) are ~120w RMS

mind you, both are running off deck power (pioneer P8MP) and it pounds pretty nicely. so to answer your question yes 16RMS is more than enough to run coaxials.
