i had the CDT HD 3 ways. they aren't bad. i perfer a hard dome tweeter and the silk that came with the HD's just wasn't detailed enough for me. if you played anything that was too high, they would distort really bad. it would cost more then i paid for the whole set to get the DRT interchangable stuff for an alunimum or titanium tweeter. they didn't sell them by themselves either. now i think it easier and cheaper. they got water damaged...
from there i went to the JL XR 3 ways. good for the money (online prices), they can be a little bright and midbass wasn't that great. i never really EQ'd them though to really see how they could be. didn't plan on keeping them, just a cheap replacement till i got something really good.
now i got the Rainbow Profi Vanadium 3-ways and absolutely love them. couldn't be happier. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif they are higher then your budget though.
